Becker Arena Products Inc. project profile

Thanks to the largest alumni gift in school history, the Mercyhurst Lakers will open their 2019-2020 season in a new rink this October.

As part of a larger athletic-focused fundraising campaign, the university raised over $6 million for upgrades to the Mercyhurst Ice Center, Mercyhurst Athletic Center, Tullio Field, and other training facilities.

Becker Arena Products provided the boards for the new 200′ x 85′ rink featuring a BAP 6.0 Steel Dasherboard System with elevated players boxes and curved acrylic corners. Mercyhurst chose to infuse its school colors into the design by upgrading to dark green backer panel, caprail, and powder coated posts. SportFloor Stamina and ReAction athletic rubber flooring was also installed throughout the arena. Locker room benching, shelving, and additional flooring will complete the project.

Since Becker Arena Products holds an awarded contract with Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing, the university was able to take advantage of their member-only discounts through the program. In addition, the old boards were taken in on trade through Becker’s used products division, Rink Equipment Resource, saving additional funds for the school.
